Morro Bay | Traveling With Kids

It is no secret that I love trips and I love to plan them.  I feel like I am always looking forward to our next vacation and we try to find kid-friendly activities that we can all enjoy.  We feel like California has so much to offer and we are so lucky to be able to be so close to so many incredible destinations.

This past December, our family met up with some of my siblings and my parents in Morro Bay, California.  Not sure where that is?  It is about half way in between Monterey and Santa Barbara along Highway 1, and just west of San Luis Obispo.  It isn't filled with tourists and it offers stunning views and great areas to explore.

We just had a few days there, so we kept busy and had a blast.  We started our trip going to the Elfin Forest where there is a mile loop to walk around, where there are pygmy oak trees and a fantastic view of Morro Rock and Morro Bay.  We headed to Montaña De Oro State Park, where there are multiple trails along the sides of the cliffs and breathtaking views.  My favorite part of our stay was probably going to Morro Strand State Beach.  The tide was low, we found endless sand dollars, there were tide pools, and it wasn't a long walk from parking to the water.  It also wasn't crowded at all, which is always a big plus.  We also went to the Elephant Seal Rookery in San Simeon.  I wasn't expecting much, but I had read that December/January was a good time to see the Elephant Seals (they come twice a year), and it was incredible.  We lucked out finding a guide that answered all sorts of questions and filled us in on all kinds of cool facts.

You'll notice a picture of me with my Solly Baby wrap on.  I seriously cannot go anywhere without it.  It is such a lifesaver, whether I am on a trip, dropping kids off to school, or making dinner at home.  Having two hands and still being able to hold my baby and keep him calm and happy makes mom life so good!

If you ever have the opportunity to go to Morro Bay, don't hesitate!
