"Families are the compass that guide us. They are the inspiration to reach great heights, and our comfort when we occasionally falter."
I have known this family for quite a few years and it is always a privilege to photograph them and capture some fun moments. Mom asked to go up to Empire Mine State Historic Park in Grass Valley. They had been there before and it was meaningful to them. I had been wanting to go there, so this was the perfect reason to go up. It definitely did not disappoint! Despite the freezing cold weather, we had such a wonderful time and the grounds there are just beautiful. We had a fantastic time exploring and playing around and just spending time together. The boys all had specific ideas about where they wanted their individual pictures and loved running around and discovering things in each area.
I always love watching parents with their children and I often feel like I learn to love more to my own children because of it. These parents are no exception. Mom has such wisdom and is patient and kind and Dad takes the time to be present with his children, to have meaningful conversations with them, and he is so sweet to their mother. I love stepping back and watching them interact with each other. The boys always have fun with one another and I can tell that they are friends. I truly had such a lovely time with them and I am so grateful they would choose me to photograph
