“Life is precious and relationships are precious. I’m a great believer in family.”

– Len Goodman

I feel so lucky each time I photograph a family.  I love each one and when I leave, I feel uplifted and I go home and I am a better wife and mom because of it.  This is a dream job for me!  This sweet family was so fun.  Their baby ruled the session and it was very clear very quickly how much everyone adores him.  How could you ever say no to those big, beautiful blue eyes and those rosy cheeks?  Nobody can!  Biggest sister was such a good little mama and big brothers were ready for some fun.  Can you believe all those cute freckles on those kiddos?  Freckles are seriously one of my very favorite things!

As a parent, it is so rewarding to watch your kids love on each other.  Yes, they fight and they don't always get along (which is totally normal), but those genuine loving and happy moments almost make you forget the arguments and rivalry.  Man, being a parent is tough stuff, but it is also so rewarding.  These parents are definitely doing things right and it shows.  I loved watching them interact with each other and with their kids.  And you know what?  I bet you are also doing a great job.  It is okay to have some hard days or hard weeks.  Give yourself a little grace and know that as you do your best, your kiddos will be just fine.  Have a fantastic weekend!

Roseville Family Photographer | My Baby Turns One

"You're my waking thought,

my sweet dream,

and everything in between."

-Perry

My sweetest baby boy turned one this past weekend.  It has seriously been the fastest year of my life and I cannot believe he is already one.  I get so emotional thinking about my babies growing up and accepting that reality.  Time just seems to go by faster each year and I am definitely not ready for it!  Unfortunately, the one time he has been sick in his life, he was sick on his birthday.  He came down with a stomach bug and could not keep anything down.  It was so sad to see, but luckily he was too young to realize it was his birthday, and he stayed pretty happy amidst all of it.

This boy is a complete dream.  If I had to think of what my ideal baby would be, he would be it.  He is so happy, so easy going, so content, and brings an immense amount of joy into our family.  We have been obsessed with him since day one and that definitely hasn't changed.  I love his little teeth as he grins, the way he waves to everyone in the grocery store or or as the two of us wake the older kids up in the morning, how he loves playing peek-a-boo with his blanket, how he adores his big sister and brothers, how he reaches out to Daddy when he comes home, how he gobbles up strawberries, how he can stand but isn't too interested in walking, and how excited he gets to go down (and climb up) slides.  I love everything about this sweet baby who has become such a part of me and I am so grateful I get to be his mama.  Happy Birthday, darling boy.  I love you.

Point Reyes | Northern California | Traveling With Kids

We had been to Point Reyes years ago, but it was time to go again.  We went on Labor Day with some friends.  We started at the Bear Valley Visitor Center and walked around the quick and easy 3/4 mile Earthquake Trail, which just happens to be right on the San Andreas Fault.  You can see where a fence jumped 16 feet during the 1906 earthquake.  The trail is nice and easy for kiddos and there are fun signs along the way to learn more or trees to climb for your adventurous child(ren).

After a quick lunch, we headed to the lighthouse.  Well, everyone else seemed to have the same idea.  Note to self next time: don't go on a holiday.  The lighthouse is only open Friday-Monday from 10am-4:30pm.  Since there is limited parking, we ended up parking on the side of the street a bit out of the way. The second my husband opened the door, we knew it was not going happen for us (10 kids!) to walk to the lighthouse, then walk down all the steps.  I had read that this spot is the windiest spot along the West Coast, and we definitely experienced that!  It was crazy.  So, we decided to forgo the lighthouse and make it happen next time.  It was honestly a bit of a bummer, but just wasn't realistic.

We headed to our final destination of the day: Drakes Beach.  This beach is close to the lighthouse and it is a bit protected.  The walk from the parking lot to the beach isn't long at all and it really wasn't too busy.  The water wasn't freezing, and the kids had sooooooo much fun.  It was a bit cloudy (my favorite beach weather) and I think I could have spent another hour there.  It was the perfect ending to our day.  Every visit to the coast makes me fall in love with California more and more!
