"If you want something to last forever, you treat it differently. You shield it and protect it. You never abuse it. You don’t expose it to the elements. You don’t make it common or ordinary. If it ever becomes tarnished, you lovingly polish it until it gleams like new. It becomes special because you have made it so, and it grows more beautiful and precious as time goes by.”
-F. Burton Howard
We have a wall of family pictures in a hallway in our home and I try to update some of the pictures on a regular basis. Some pictures stay, like older family pictures, a wedding picture, a baby picture of myself and my husband, etc. The pictures that change are pictures of my individual children, a picture of just my kids, our recent family picture, and then we also have pictures of just my husband with the kids and just me with the kids. Since we had our fourth, we haven't updated the pictures of just my husband with the kids or just me with the kids. So, on a day that seemed "cool" (meaning 90 degrees) we set out to make it happen. These people are my whole heart and I love them with everything that I am. I am so grateful to watch my husband be a father to our children and lovingly and selflessly take care of them. I love watching everyone dote on our baby and how he can put a smile on anyone's face. I love watching my oldest nurture and lead. I love watching my oldest boy explore and become completely engrossed in his surroundings. I love watching my middle boy become so carefree as he joins his siblings on an adventure. Life is no where near perfect or happy every single day, but it is much better with my family....and I wouldn't have it any other way.
