Sacramento Extended Family Photographer | A Reunion At South Lake Tahoe
“In every conceivable manner, the family is the link to our past, bridge to our future.”
This is my family! We got together from all over the country for a reunion at Lake Tahoe in Northern California this summer. I lucked out that it was so close to my house in Roseville, especially with the timing of my own little family moving (pretty much just a neighborhood over) just a day before we headed up to our reunion. I am not sure we would have made it otherwise! It was crazy, to say the least, but it all worked out, and I am really glad that it did.
We all stayed in one house and got to have fun going on hikes, playing outside, getting yummy ice cream, playing games, etc. Since we are all grown up and live everywhere, from coast to coast, it seems to be more of a rare thing than a common thing to get everyone together, so we make a photo session a priority.
We went on a walk the first day we arrived and when we saw this clearing, I knew this would make for a great spot for pictures. I checked out some spots by the lake itself, but I knew this would be a better option for our large group I brought my tripod and remote, and we set up our large group picture first. Then, the rest of it consists of me running around trying to get all the other little groups. I handed the camera over to my youngest brother to get some pictures of our own family, which I am so grateful to have. The pictures of my sister who was pregnant at the time are already outdated since she had her baby, so hopefully we’ll be able to get a more updated picture with all of us again in the next year or so!
Extended family photo sessions can be tricky to schedule with so many people and may seem like a bit of a hassle, but I also know they are always so worth it. You won’t regret getting the pictures done and photographs only appreciate over time. It is one of the best investments you can make, if you ask me!
